From USA Today bestselling author W Winters comes a heart-wrenching, edge-of-your-seat gripping, romantic suspense.
I saw her from across the bar.
My bar. My city. Everything in that world belonged to me.
She stood out from the crowd like she was looking for someone to blame for her pain.
That night, I felt the depths of my mistakes. I felt my scars. With a single glance, I knew her touch would take it all away. I craved it more than anything.
I knew she would be a tempting, beautiful mistake.
One I would make again and again... even if it cost me everything.
Another fantastic read by Willow Winters, I am already in love and thoroughly invested in this universe and I was looking forward to reading Jase's story. A Single Glance follows on closely from the events of Endless (Carter and Aria's story), but splits off to follow Jase and his need to know all about this girl asking questions about his business, in his club.
Jase is a Cross brother after all so it goes without saying he is a bad boy hero, one you should stay away from, but you crave him and he soon becomes your addiction. Jase is Carter's right hand man so as expected he is controlled, he knows what is going on at all times, he plans and is methodical and always remains one step ahead. Yet Bethany is his new fascination he needs her, he thrives off her and like a moth to a flame he is drawn to her and when they meet they combust!
Bethany is on a mission to find her sisters killer, with little information to go off, she begins to ask questions in dangerous waters, getting the attention of Jase Cross. She despises the man, believes he is involved in her sisters death somehow; yet Bethany soon begins to realise her sisters story may go darker down the rabbit hole than she thought.
Jase and Bethany's story is addictive, as I read I couldn't believe how much of the book I had devoured as I was completely enthralled by Jase. He had a way of putting you at ease despite the things taking place, his calm, demure and powerful presence held you captive while you devoured the scene, leaving a feeling of satisfaction and a desire to read more about what's to come.
I love how complex and developed the Cross Brother Universe is. The depth of detail and how it all interconnects just leaves you wondering what's next around every corner. Although this book feels very focussed on Bethany and Jase, the subtleties of the underlying storyline remains present and you don't forget about it. Willow got the balance here perfect. Every Cross Brother brings something different to the table and Jase is a man of many skills (wink wink). Bethany is a likeable heroine and easy to connect with, you understand her motivations throughout the book. Needless to say the end took me by surprise - Naughty Willow naughty!! So........ as ever I look forward to reading all the words from Willow in the next instalment!
